Cotswold Homes, working in conjunction with the landowners, are proposing a new residential development of up to 105 dwellings on land to the west of the A435, in the northern part of Bishop’s Cleeve. The site has been used for allotments in the past but recently the Parish Council gave up the lease of this land because of lack of use.
The proposals seek to develop the land in a sensitive manner, in order to assist in meeting the area’s housing needs. Cotswold Homes, who will build the development, work on numerous projects within the local area and design bespoke properties which respond positively to their local context. They are not a volume housebuilder and are based in the local area. Sharing their proposals with the community and seeking your input is an important part of the planning process and this consultation exercise aims to set out how the emerging proposals have been formulated and underpinned by technical evidence.
The site is an emerging allocation in the Pre-Submission Tewkesbury Local Plan, which is due to be submitted for examination in early 2020. This means that officers at Tewkesbury Borough Council consider the site to be a sustainable location for housing, having assessed other reasonable options for development around the town.
Based on the comments received during this consultation, the proposals will be finalised and submitted as part of a formal planning application to Tewkesbury Borough Council in early 2020. After this, there will be further opportunities to make comments to the Council while the planning application is being considered by them.
